help with seat for plane

Last time we flew, we took our Britax Diplomat. Installing it on the plane was hard bc I had to jam my hand through the hole to unlatch the belt and shredded my hand. This time we took the Boulevard and found out the buckle is right in the middle of DS's back. We need a new seat anyway, so we were wondering if there was a seat that has easy access to thread the belt and unlock it, and doesn't leave the buckle in the middle of his back. We are leaning towards a Radian but I understand these have the same issue.

The design of the seat belt means that the buckle will always be in the middle. And a seat with a rather open belt path will make the buckle easy to feel (on the other hand, it's much easier to install/uninstall).

I just tossed a couple receiving blankets and prefolds in the seat and folded them up into a pad behind DS. They doubled as mess rags in the rental car while we were on vacation.

Okay that's what I was afraid of. It was a lot easier to install this time so I'll deal with it. They gave us a blanket to put under the cover and it worked fine. I was just trying to find a happy medium. I'd love the travel vest but we always need a seat at our destination so it seems like a waste. :-(
