Combi Coccoro

I thought I read here that the Coccoro was updated, so there are "old" and "new" versions out. I don't *need* one, but really want one (I think they're just so cute, and they get great reviews as travel seats)... My birthday is coming up, and I'm pretty set on a Coccoro for my present to me! There is a huge price discrepancy just about everywhere I look, with Cherry Pie and Chestnut being about $175, and all the other colors being $230ish. Does anyone know if that's because those 2 are still the old version, or just because of the fabric color? Or, alternately, does anyone know a way to check a DOM before buying?

I think it's mainly just the color.

Usually you can call or email the retailer and ask for things like model numbers and DOMs.

Also, look at the description. If you can trust the retailer to put the right description with the right car seat... which is always risky... the "new" Coccoros have a lower limit of 3 lbs and the "old" ones had a lower limit of 5 lbs. So you can tell them apart that way.

We just bought one and I had the same worry. Got the chestnut from Amazon and it was indeed the new one---DOM of 2/25/12, which seemed reasonable. Also, some places have Combi drop ship them (One Step Ahead I know does, and that's the cheapest place I found it for most of the colors, but we weren't sure if it would work for us so I wanted hassle-free returns since nowhere local carries it). I assume anything shipping from Combi is the new version. HTH!

I think I read somewhere on here that the old ones have a one-piece infant insert and the new ones have seperate head and body inserts. There might have also been something about RF tethering because there was a retroactive change to allow it for older seats.

I bought mine on amazon for $199 and it was made in the past few months.

One Step Ahead has Coccoros for $199.99. They have Cherry Pie, Key Lime, and Licorice. According to the item description it's shipped straight from Combi so I'd assume it would have a recent DOM. (Seeing now that someone mentioned thisalready.) If you buy from One Step Ahead you can use the coupon code 50HOT until 7/16/12 and it would be about $163.89.

I really want a CCO too and have been looking at all the prices :) I'll probably end up waiting to buy one though.
