It's not even a new cover!

i am still debating whether to keep the brand new one I got from Tomy as a replacement for the one I had.

Awesome find. It will be back on my list when it has a 40lb RF limit. 35lbs with a shell that tall is a bit silly.

This is Canada. We don't get the cool covers.

I believe the company has stated that the True Fit will never have a rf'ing weight limit higher than 35lbs.

It's not really a big deal for many kids - the vast majority of people aren't going to rf their kids to age 4 or 5 anyways, and a seat that will get nearly every kid past age 2 and many kids past age 3 isn't a bad thing. Kids who are heavier it obviously isn't the best choice for, but 35lbs isn't a bad thing the way 30lbs is.

Does the 35 pound RF have to do with the two piece design?

If I was to speculate, I would guess that it has more to do with them being conservative and wanting to stick with a number that they are confident in vs. pushing the limit when most people aren't using it all the way to 35lbs anyways.

But that's just my guess... It could be related to the headrest, but i don't think so. I think it is really just more about testing and the numbers they want to keep the performance of the seat within.

I would guess not. Probably just that when it came out in Canada back in 2008 (?), very few seats had a RFing limit higher than 30lbs. It was kinda revolutionary at the time. I'd guess that they just didn't test it higher. 35 lbs *sounds* like a low limit now that we have some many 40 & 45 pound seats, but it's still very reasonable, especially for Canadian children. My four year old is barely 35lbs on a heavy day.

I agree, for most kids the 35 will do it. Then you get a kid like my niece, 53 pounds and 44 inches at 4 :) I just always wondered if that was the reason.
