Daycare van crashed - killing 1 adult and injuring many kids

The first thing I thought of was all the full size vans I have ever seen have 15 seats and seat belts maximum (2 front buckets, 3 rows with 3 passenger bench seats, and a back row with a four passenger bench).

They said 14 kids and 2 adults were riding, which would mean at least one was unbuckled. This is without knowing anything else in regards to whether the children were in properly installed seats, or considering the increased risks involved in operating a fully loaded 15 passenger van.

I posted this a few days ago. :-(

It was in my town. No one has mentioned proper restraint. :-(

And it's sick because she had had multiple violations in the past for unsafe practices involving transport of the children.

Lots of broken legs and arms apparently.

That makes me feel sick!! It says parents complained about unsafe transportation. I know sometimes people are in tough situations and don't have other options, but why would you continue to allow your child to be transported if you knew it was unsafe?! I feel so horrible for the parents :( I can't imagine the guilt they must feel even if they had no other choice for daycare.

ETA: The third picture shows an EMT carrying a child in what looks to be a infant seat on the base. I wonder if that is the 8 month old mentioned in the article...

The doctors at the hospital said the injuries to the children shouldn't have been this bad.

I wish the news did a follow up about proper restraint for kids.
