We have had the convaid Carrot 3 recommended for my daughter. Does anyone have any experience with it? I would love to see pictures but there are not many out there yet.

I had seen another training video but not this one. I would love to see an actual child in the seat :(

Another question: are you supposed to use latch regardless of the child's weight? According to the manual this seat is designed to be used in vehicles with latch. And doesn't even really discuss an alternative. That makes me extremely nervous especially with all the new latch requirements coming in 2014.

Isn't it just a booster with a positioning harness? So there's no problem using LATCH past limits, because it's the seatbelt restraining the seat, the LATCH just holds it in position, just like any other LATCHable booster.

Duh!! Can you tell I need sleep? Is it crazy that because it is a booster I am really uncomfortable putting my 3 year old in it? Her seating specialist wants me to really consider it before I turn it down.

Currently she is rear facing and I would really like to keep it that way for a while longer (she hates FF, gets sick much more often, and that whole safety thing) but she is starting to outgrow her seats so we've got to order something soon. She is 33.5 lbs and about 37 inches standing. Her seated height is 22.5 inches and torso of 16. She currently has a TF recline as her primary seat. She has always been long torsoed and still seems to be gaining height there faster than her legs (think 2T jeans, outgrowing her 4T shirts). Anyone have any ideas on how to keep her RFing? Should I just bite the bullet and turn her like the seating lady wants her to.

We had been hoping foonf would save us but I am not sure I like the high base. We had talked a lot about ordering her a MT or kidzone before we figured out how to get her sister's TF to work for her and we are reconsidering that.

So everyone vote....what would you do? And why?

TIA

I will call around tomorrow and see if anywhere has it yet. It is definitely worth a try and at least it would give us some more time to figure something out. I am terrified for the day she turns FF one of her conditions includes a connective tissue disorder and she can dislocate a wrist just from having someone help her up or a shoulder from being picked up carefully. I cannot imagine what would happen in a crash.

Uh, I'd not be going for a booster with positioning harness for a LONG time then. Long time. Max out a true ff harness first (the Roosevelt offers a lot of great positioning options if she needs a lot of positioning.)

That was my thinking. I asked the seating company for a different seating specialist today. Once I turned down the seat she wouldn't stop trying to get me to turn her FF because her legs were too long to RF (she is wearing 18 month pants today and is in a TF seriously there is plenty of room for her legs as if that is even the most important thing here). I did direct her to this site and the NHSTA but it was totally useless to do so.

I do love the fact that the Roosevelt looks like it would be very comfortable and it looks very supportive. She actually does ok without too much support right now but we are unsure how she will do in the future as she may progress. We do throw a rolled blanket beside her in the TF but her big problem is her joints are just too loose and delicate so things that aren't important to us with any other kid (like ease of loading) are important with her.

I am praying she starts to grow legs soon so that we can RF longer. She's not really that heavy or even tall it is just that torso of hers!

Here is to hoping the size 4 me works well for her. And that we can find one soon!

Thanks!!

I highly suggest holding off on getting a special needs seat until you really have to, as they are not going to allow you to size up as often as you need.

My daughter has CP and is 5. She is still able to fit in many "conventional" seats and will be able to for quite a while longer. She needs full support.
We currently use-
Radian XTSL (rear facing)
Graco Smart Seat (forward facing)
Britax Frontier (forward facing)

The only seat that she should technically fit in based on height/weight but that does not work well for her at all is a Britax Regent.
