Question When to Replace a Britax Marathon

It doesn't really have to do with the date of Manufacture. It has to do with the fact that we were in an accident in a parking lot, nobody was injured. Nothing was damaged...

Just want to make sure that the seat is still safe...

Call Britax and describe the accident to them and they'll let you know if it needs to be replaced. They have great CS. :)

Britax goes by NHTSA Guidelines. If *all* of the following are true in your case, the seat is still safe to use.

Minor crashes are those that meet ALL of the following criteria:

The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site;

The vehicle door nearest the safety seat was undamaged;

There were no injuries to any of the vehicle occupants;

The air bags (if present) did not deploy; AND

There is no visible damage to the safety seat

Britax follows NHTSA criteria for a minor crash. If yours qualifies as a minor crash, you may continue to use the seat
* The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site;
* The vehicle door nearest the child restraint was undamaged;
* There were no injuries to any of the vehicle occupants;
* The air bags (if present) did not deploy; AND
* There is no visible damage to the child restraint.

For future reference, the "no injuries" part is often confusing. If you're in the car during the crash, you don't have to go to the hospital to have an injury. If you wake up with a sore neck the next morning, you have an injury and the crash can't be considered minor.

Britax follows NHTSA's recommendation for seat replacement. If it was a minor crash, there's no need to replace. A minor crash, according to NHTSA, meets ALL of the following characteristics:

No one was injured
Airbags did not deploy
Cars could be driven away
Door nearest the seat wasn't damaged
No visible damage of the seat

I did that from memory, so if I got anything wrong/left something out, someone please correct me.

ETA: Nevermind :p
