Kiddy World Plus question- shield impact force

I am wondering- the shield on the Kiddy World Plus seat, does it distribute the force during impact better/ wider then a harnessed seat? Not sure how to explain what I am trying to say here

With a normal harnessed seat- most of the force would be along where the harness and chest clip are placed.
With the Kiddy seat, would the force be distribute wider over the whole upper body???

My little one is going to have open heart surgery again next year and I am quite worried about transporting her FFing after surgery. The last open heart surgery was 2 yrs ago and she was RFing so I was not as concerned about it. For medical/ safety reasons I turned her FFing a while ago and RFing is not an option for us anymore even so I would love to.

She is currently in a BLVD70

I assume the force would be distributed over a wider area of the chest, but I don't know if the force in any one spot would be greater or lesser than with a 5 point.

Regarding 5 points, a significant amount of force is absorbed by the pelvis. It isn't all to the chest.

I might consider calling a few mfg and seeing if one would give you the okay to remove the chest clip given the circumstances. I'd feel a lot better without the hard plastic right in front of her heart.

The Kiddy actually concentrates the forces over the soft belly more than the skeleton.

The chest clip isn't a concern. Immediately after surgery, if it lines up with the incision, it may need to be lightly padded with some gauze or a washcloth for comfort reasons. After a few days it won't need that any more.

Hmmm- not sure. Last time we could not pick her up under her arms for at least three month because it could "rip" everything on her inside open again (according to the doc).... we were told to make sure that her brothers are not going to be wild with her and wrestle or tumble around (she was only 12 month back then).... assume we are going to be getting about the same instructions again. Her Sternum will be separated .... worried about impact in case of accident....

We have a KWP for my daughter that we use after surgeries. She is a much happier child without the chest clip rubbing her. She is RF the rest of the time.

Thank you for your reply! May I ask? Did she have heart surgery?

Yes and her diaphragm. She was miserable RF in the Recaro so I flipped her because she kept screaming the harness hurt. So I wanted to be able to look back and see that she wasn't bleeding or anything. She was still miserable so I put her in the Kiddy. I'm flipping her back in the next week or so.

Thank you for the insight!!! I am leaning towards a Kiddy- I think it is the only option besides her regular BLVD70.
She is on the small side and I think we would get good use out of the Kiddy.
I had a major scare last year with her rear facing and decided to FF her... I tried RFing again a few month ago but I could not concentrate on the road and kept saying her name and have her sing songs and such just to make sure she was okay... it was nerve wrecking

I she kept getting upset and holding her breath and I kept screaming are you ok? Answer me now! LOL it has mad it much better and I'm sure she'll get a lot of use out of it as well. And sometimes piece of mind has a pricetag right?

I assume that your peanut is also a '09 baby?

Yes she is. And it is bad but it was that or pull over every few minutes
