Visiting the US from Germany

Hi, this was me posting as a guest last year. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?p=1803439#post1803439

I couldn't pots in my old thread, because it's almost a year old. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your replies. I actually couldn't find my post again after having posted it and was now searching for something in this forum and stumbled across my old post. Always better to register I suppose. ;)

I ended up finding an ebay seller that was willing to ship a Radian to Germany. We didn't have any problems on the flights so all was well. Plus we didn't have to worry about getting into an accident in the US and the insurance company acting up or anything like that.

Now my new question: We will be going to the US again this fall. I read something here about many seats in the US expiring but couldn't really find any information on this law, can you help me out here? Can we still legally use our seat?

And another thing I have been wondering about (I actually sell European rearfacing car seats myself). Do you have any rearfacing seats over there with two tether straps and also a support leg? Basically, seats with no support leg are not legal here so I was just wondering why the laws are so different.

Sorry again for never replying to your kind answers.

Your Radian is good for eight years from when it was made. Do you trust the ebay seller with your child's life, though? If not, don't use it. If you do, continue.

No, no dual tethers and foot props. Our test sled is not set up so that we have a front seat, and I don't think it has a floor, so there's nowhere to attach tethers or lower a foot prop. Besides, Americans are *just* catching on to rear facing to two. Four to six years is still shocking here. Until that becomes the norm and parents are asking for more leg room AND then we wait ten years for the standards to change, we're not going to see foot props and dual tethers any time soon.

This is not true. All seats sold in Europe must conform to the same EU standards and not all seats have dual tethers AND support leg. The TWE does not for instance.
