Question Booster training?

My niece is 5yrs 3 mos. She is right at 40-41lbs. So far she has never been in a booster, just a 5pt harness. She is pretty mature and I think would be okay with booster training. I have an old style Parkway to start training her in and have been contemplating it since she turned 5. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this. It wasn't nearly this hard to go from rf to ff.

If you want. Is there a need to start? Otherwise just leave her. I suspect as she gets older there will be less need to train, and she'll just do fine in a booster.

Training (ie: learning) at her age should be as simple as a conversation about sitting still, not leaning, slouching, or un-buckling. :)

It's the families with little ones who are opting to booster right at the minimums where training or learning is sometimes better if done on a trial basis. When I have conversations with families about booster learning, it's directed at the parents as much as it is directed at the child. For many families the concept booster readiness (aside from weight) is completely foreign. They have no idea that leaning, reaching, slouching or potentially unbuckling is anything to worry about.

For my own children, and I suspect yours OP, the concept of sitting safely and everything that comes with that, will not be a foreign concept. I wouldn't worry too much.

That's what it's been in my experience. I only have one out of 5 that has booster issues, which is why he's still harnessed at an older age. (The younger ones are harnessed out of ease of buckling.) The majority of kids of car safety advocates will be fine switching to a booster when it's time and just needing a conversation about proper behavior in the booster.

We live close right now but they're moving across the country in a month. They will be shipping their one car and will more than likely need to use a hbb in the interim. I have no idea how long the process will take. I do have a SG Go that I might send with them. However I will want it back and it will be expensive whether I fly with it or have them ship it back.
