It works! R120 and '99 Suburban

What the heck?!?! My crazy suburban is at it again. I got zactayaus' Daytona R120 in the mail yesterday and of course I had to try it center in the suburban since we were planning a trip today and it installed rock solid with 2 twists of the buckle stalk and then flipping the buckle.

Most of you know by now that my truck has had a love/hate relationship with the Radian with more hate than love. I wish I knew what I was doing differently the times it didn't work. Or maybe the Diono version has some subtle differences that make the belt lie better? I don't know but I'll take it.

Proof!

As a bonus, the boy loves it and has a ton of room left in it. He's 1/2" below the 2nd to top slots FFing so he'll fit for a good long time. He'd better not get that sucker dirty cause I am not taking it out until after our trip this summer!

Maybe. I still really want to try it center in my Civic to see if there's room outboard for boosters since that's the real reason I got the thing. Lol.

Of course now DS want all red seats. I have a feeling I'm going to be looking for another one soon. :p

There are definitely subtle differences. I can get an RXT in the capt chairs of my van, but not the SSK radian. Glad you were successful, now never take it out :p

The bottom of the diono is bigger. I find it doesn't play 3 across as well as the sk radian in the civic, but maybe it'll work for you.

Hey I hear ya! Mine is a '98 suburban...I do currently have an RNXT RF outboard 2nd row with an install I'm satisfied with. But I have been back and forth with the love hate too!

Any chance that cowmoo is a frontier back there? How's that work in your suburban, and any chance of a 3 across the 3rd row with a FR in there? I'd need one or two of the others to RF for sure, and I'm stuck in a rut with what could possibly work. Anything you've found?

Yep that's a cowmoo fr. No chance of a 3 across with it back there though. The middle seat is empty. I can't imagine a 3 across with the fr back there that would work. It's crazy narrow.

He sure does. Thank you! I'm gonna get him an RXT for our 24 hr drive this summer. I know this is safe but it doesn't look very comfy. Lol

I moved some seats around yesterday just to make sure my ideas are impossible and I was shocked to get KF30/ProRide/RF RN in my 3rd row! I knew I could do RF CCO/Proride/RF CCO, but needed taller RF seats...

I just looked at the measurements on the stats pages here and it says the ProRide and the FR85 are both 19" wide--I really thought the PR was just so slightly more narrow, I know I bought it just to be able to get the FFer back there with the CCOs. But maybe the FR85 would fit next to a RF RN and then something else back there. A FF RN at least should do it. Hmmm.

The ProRide sits up on a base though, right? My guess would be that it puzzles with a, Radian in a way the FR85 wouldn't (but I certainly could be wrong.)

:yeahthatsad:

Not much puzzles well with a FR85 because it's wide from bottom to top.

Just keep in mind that it is a tricky install. You have to twist the buckle stalk twice, buckle the belt and tighten while kneeling in the seat, then unbuckle and flip the buckle making sure the twist is at least at the middle of the RN so it's flat at the buckle, then re-buckle while jumping up and down and swearing. I've found the swearing to be a crucial element so make sure there are no kids within earshot. ;)
