Crash test results

Anyone know when the crash test results are all in for the following year's cars? I was on informedforlife.org comparing the ratings on some vehicles between 2007 and 2008. And I noticed that for example, the Pilot was a Best in 2007 and only a Medium in 2008. I wondered how it could be less safe for 2008, then realized some of the scores were missing.

that's the problem with IFL. if data is not available for a particular test, it defaults to "average", which can bring the overall score down. this can mislead people who don't otherwise know that this is how the scores work.

if the honda pilot is not redesigned from the 07 model, then the crash scores should be identical. as you can see from the results, IIHS has tested the 07 model, but not the 08.

frankly, i prefer just going to the main crash test sites such as NHTSA and IIHS, and getting the data there, then just interpreting it myself rather than have a third party try to integrate it all into something meaningful.

The thing I like about the IFL site is I can get an overview of what vehicles have the best ratings if I am not looking for a particular one. The other two sites allow me to look up a specific vehicle if I had one in mind, but I didn't see a comprehensive list there. Of course I could be missing it if there is one. I do like the Safety Picks section on the IIHS site too. I will keep checking back though for 2008 ratings, since I plan to get something new by next year.
