Conversation with my Mother (seat related)

My parents are really good about following my rules for carseat use for the kids. They use the boosters, make sure the belt is routed properly and my dad is great at installing seats. My mom asks for help and doesn't attempt to do it (she doesn't want to learn either which is problematic sometimes).

Anyway, this weekend she asked how much longer M would be rear facing even though as she gets bigger her "knees will be in her chin". I reminded mom that RF is safer than FF. And then added that if she was FF eating without her knowing wouldn't be possible anymore! She fully agreed and said she was just wondering because she thought it was a great thing to RF for so long so that the toys didn't fall off her lap and it was more comfortable for sleeping. At least she took something away from that conversation? :p

Her knees won't be in her chin, she'll just start using the longer legs to kick her brothers better. ;)

My dad is on me all the time about FFing DS in all the cars. I told him no way. But he won't listen to anything I have to say. Needless to say DS doesn't ride with him often.

She already reaches them quite well in my car. I need to reconfigure seats there too soon and put her outboard. Then the boys can switch off who is being kicked. Except a RF radian works so well with a FR85 and a Monterey. <sigh> She can keep kicking them. They deserve it most of the time. ;)

My dad finally "gets it". Apparently they did a story on it in the News a while back and he finally conceded that I wasn't crazy. Now my mom, she is a different story, lol!

Your mom should be happy your DD doesn't ask what she is eating like my DD. When my DD was RFing she still knew if I was eating something.

Yeah if we go through a drive thru, DD2 immediately starts screaming "PLEASE!" over and over since she knows I have food.

Luckily the kid doesn't talk yet. But don't open a bag of something. She will scream her head off until she gets some. So, open bag, then put child in car. :)
