FF True Fit 2001 Ford Explorer Sport help

I tried helping a friend today with turning her three year old forward facing (she hit 35# in the True Fit) in an 01 Explorer Sport (two door, two position back seat, no LATCH). The seat belt buckles are very low, slightly forward of the bight and very rigid. It installed fairly easily, and feels tight side to side, but then front to back I can rotate the seat. I can grab where the harness adjuster is and very easily pull upwards and the entire seat rotates upward, kind of like the reverse of rear facing rebound. I wasn't terribly comfortable with it, but we didn't have time to mess with it any further. Any suggestions? We're going to try a few more seats next week to see if anything else fits better, I have a Complete Air, Marathon 65, and a Maestro we could swap with if we need to.

It kind of did that in the 3rd row of my '06 Explorer, and I found I was trying to force it too upright. Try allowing it to naturally recline a bit and tighten it down in that position. If the seats recline at all, you may check the manual to see if they are allowed to be reclined a click or 2 with a seat installed.
