Question Would you use this seating position?

I have a 6 passenger dodge intrepid. The front seat has a middle seat. It's lap belt only and has no head rest. It's similar to this.

This weekend were suppose to be going to my sisters. Plans changed and now my family wants to pile in my car. The only person that could go there is DD (4) FF in a radian. The others in the car are 3 adults, DS and an 9 yr old in a hbb. So would you use it?

Definitely check to make sure. Some vehicles do not allow a car seat in that position which makes it useless... Otherwise, sure, if as Pixels says you can install correctly.

Can you have a rear facing car seat in that position? I know that you said it's going to be FF but I have ask my self that question before, the middle doesn't have air bags and also a RF seat with lap belt is (I think) safer than a FF with lap belt.

The air bag could still hit the seat. Not a chance I want to take.

The airbag situation would depend on the car.

RF and FF seats are both completely safe installed with a lap belt. (All other things being equal).

The only issue is that there likely isn't a tether in that position, but that doesn't preclude installation of most seats in the US. (This all assumes the vehicle allows child restraints there)

And the Radian is low-profile and reportedly performs well without a tether.

In some cases there is no chance of the airbag from either side intruding, and then I'd prefer RF in the front to FF in the front. However, you'd have to have a specific affirmation of that from the manufacturer before I'd be comfortable with that (or off switches for both airbags.)

I feel just as comfortable using my RXT RFing or FFing with a lap belt only and no tether. The Radian performs well without a tether. It's currently FFing and has been for a few months.

I probably wouldn't put a seat RFing even in the middle unless there was a switch for the airbags.
