Would you trust this seat?

So my best friend has just started doing day care for my nephew. SIL gave her a Radian 65 (DOM 6/07) that she says was given to her by her fiancee's uncle who used to work for the sheriff station. Supposedly it came from a seat giveaway, but I'm unclear on the details, whether it was actually a giveaway or something the uncle scrounged up for her. BFF says it's dirty like it's been sitting in a garage for awhile, and the "piece for rear facing" (the safe stop?) is missing, though it does have the manual. I'll be taking a good look at the seat when I'm out there in 2 weeks (they live 2 hours away), but I'm concerned the seat is used and possibly crashed. DN is 4.5yo and would be riding in a booster if I hadn't intervened last September. SIL is clueless but tries to do what's best; BFF is more into safety but still learning. I think I'll be buying him something new; I'm just not comfortable with that seat.

I'd guess the missing rfing piece is the boot. (The safe stop is for ffing and may be missing as well.) I'd guess the cops stored the radian and probably treated it badly because they have no clue. I'd not trust it at all.

I'd much rather see that child in a new booster than that harnessed seat.

Thanks for the opinions! He only rode in it once and will not be doing so again. BFF has a spare Chase to put him in (harnessed) for the moment, and I'll be picking up a Maestro to bring down when I visit in a few weeks.

Nope, I wouldn't use it. I'd destroy it or save it for a BRU recycling event. The Maestro is on sale at Target right now for $71.99.
