No clue but had to comment on how adorable you, those sunglasses, that seat are (were) lol!! We had ugly brown leather / metal looking contraptions and I was born in '85.. they were likely handed down and probably expired lol!

An expired seat w/after market cover. My dd was born in '90, and they did not have seats w/metal bases anymore. I bet that seat was at least 10yrs old when you were in it!

Thanks :). I found another picture of my brother in a seat that looked like this but it was baby blue carpet looking material & it had straps. He is 2 yrs younger than me so I am thinking maybe this was a custom made cover? I will have to ask my mom later.

Yep, they did. I had one for DD...and aftermarket headrests too! That one looks homemade though...

P.S. Not sure on the name of the seat though. It's not a Strolee....I can tell you that. LOL

Check the album of the member classicseats. He has all sorts of them.

Someone could have made the covers. I gotta say that one is way cuter than the black/brown vinyl they typically were.

Yep it does look like it! Did they have chest clips like that though? That one looks like a 5 pt w/ a shield.

The one in his pic doesn't go with that seat. That's a Century chest clip, and they did not have clips like that. They were seat belt material with a snap on them.

Ok I found a seat identification guide & it looks like an Evenflo Kantwet One Step. It says manufactured beginning in 1987. I was born in 88 so that would make sense

I was born in 87 and I had a Century T shield that had the metal frame. I know the seat was purchased in March 87.

Was there a weight limit for the harness? & then it turned into a booster?

Yes, it had a weight limit, but I don't recall what they were. And no, it did not turn into a booster. Century was around in '87, so maybe that is the right chest clip if that seat was really from '87, though I'm having a hard time imagining that. In looking back at my dd's Evenflo seat (bought in '90) it was NOTHING like the one pictured. I just can't believe there would only be 3yrs between them.

This was my dd's seat in 1990. Well, this was a newer version, but the shell was the same. Hers didn't have the adjustable shield and the cover was different.

I can believe they were that different! Just look at how much car seats have changed from 2009-2012. I'm assuming, that since I was bigger & didn't need the straps to hold me up, then they thought the shield would protect me :/

Ok I talked to my mom & she said that it was blue cordurouy & my grandma made the cover. She said I hated the straps & would pull my arms out of them & put them behind by back. I believe it, I was a little turd, lol. She couldn't believe that I figured out what seat it was.
