Britax Grey Foam covering harness slots

I am a little upset with Britax at the moment and wanted to post here to see if I am being unreasonable. I just got my new Regent car seat sent to me because when I was installing the update kit, the part that holds the latch to the shell of the seat broke and I couldn't get it out to replace the latch straps. So, they sent me a new seat. On the new seat the grey comfort foam is partially covering the harness slots so when I go to adjust the harness slots to the proper height, I have to push the foam up in order to get the harness to the rear of the seat. Well, I paid $300 for this car seat, and my old one was not made this way, so I wanted to get a good seat, so I wanted it exchanged. Well, they say this is not a defect and the seat is fine. Well, after talking to a manager and complaining about how my old seat is not this way and I want the foam installed properly for my $300, they said they would send me a new one. Well, they aren't sending it right away like my old one. They are making me send my old one in, and when they have reviewed it and have ensured it is defective, then they will ship a new one. They told me this may take a couple of months.

So, am I being unreasonable by wanting the foam to be lined properly? Would you return it for a new one? :twocents:

IIRC, on my husky, the foam just kind of sits there. Have you tried taking off the cover, adjusting the foam so that it lines up with the holes and replacing the cover? Sometimes the cover and foam don't meet up exactly and it shouldn't be a problem as long as you are still able to tighten the harness and the straps are above your child's shoulder.

I have the feeling that this truly is not a defect, since the foam is just for comfort any way and you are still able to thread the harness correctly.

I was having the same problem with my boulevard and took the cover off to straighten the foam and now it works great, HTH

Honestly, I would do as the previous poster suggested, pull the cover off the seat, look at the foam, and see if you can't fix the issue yourself. Especially with 'a couple of months' delay possible (clearly Britax doesn't want to accomodate you on this one). Even if they promised much quicker turnaround, shipping seats back and forth is a pain. Also, if you look at it more closely, and discover that it really is an unfixable problem, that would give you better ammunition if you want to continue to argue for a replacement.

BOth my boulevard and one of my regents do this.

Ra-ha! I'm not the only one. My BLVD was doing this and I didn't realize I had the harness straps so high because the grey foam was making them seem lower. I will try taking the cover off & doing something about it.

I'll add that my Marathon is the same way. That foam "floats" between the cover and the seat shell. The good news is, it's easy to fix.

Ok, now I am thinking there is something different about my seat. The grey foam is actually bolstered to the seat, so you can't move it. Maybe this is a change they recently made.

Well, I just got a call from Britax and they said that they are not going to send me a new seat and that they will send me new foam and bolster clips. Well, I guess I will be keeping this one. I think I am better off leaving it alone than messing with taking the bolster clips off. Maybe I will try that though, I have a new foam coming if I break it.

Thanks for the responses!
