Arizona and booster law?

I have to admit, I don't watch the news as much as I should. But this morning, I saw that Arizona may soon have a booster law, if it passes! It doesn't sound great - to UNDER 8 (so only 7  ), but also OR 4'9", although I'll bet they don't enforce that part.

What do you think are the chances it will pass? They said Arizona is one of only 3 states without a booster law.

The law, like most states which mention height, will be that if you are under 8 years old but already 4'9" tall, the booster law will not apply to you, not that you are required to use a booster seat even if you are 8 years old or over but not yet 4'9".

Appears that it's up to the state's governor now.

Arizona, Florida, and South Dakota.

South Dakota passed one, but the then governor vetoed it. All others have laws requiring boosters through at least age 6. Some are age 7, about half are age 8, a couple are even age 9, and I believe some recent ones have height and/or proper fit clauses in addition to the age requirement.

In AR there isn't a specific booster law. It just says a child under 6 & 60 lbs has to be in a child restraint. So legally a 6 yr old can just use a seatbelt :(

I think "booster law" refers to any law that requires some kind of restraint beyond age 4. At least that's what I can decipher. NHTSA sometimes has little quizzes on the Facebook page like, "How many states have booster laws?" and I always answer, "Very few states have laws specifically mentioning boosters. What do you mean?" and they never answer.
