Vehicle for 2 rear facing that's not a minivan

We need a new car that will fit 2 rear facing. It's not a problem for me, but we're having trouble finding something my husband can drive with enough room to move his seat back enough to drive comfortably. Right now we have Radians. Is the answer to get a car seat with a shorter shell? We tried the VW Jetta Wagon, the Volvo XC70 and XC90 and none are working. He would really prefer a car/wagon or an SUV.

My 2002 Malibu can have the front seats all the way way back and still fit radians RFing.

Also, did you try an angle adjuster with your radians? That helps with space.

I worked in a 2012 Toyota Highlander yesterday and the rf Britax seat installed at 45 degrees still left 4" of space between the shell and the front passenger seat. I'm guessing a Radian would go in just fine, and especially with an Angle Adjuster in the mix.

I know a Highlander isn't a wagon, but it's a pretty cushy crossover, so figured I'd mention it. :). Eta: I see now you're open to an SUV, so there you go.

I have been car shopping recently, and my Hubs was firmly anti-minivan. The only crossover we agreed on was the Ford Flex.

ETA: It was the best combination of passenger space and cargo space for our particular needs.

I have room in a milan (fusion twin). I would guess with the angle adjuster, the radians would fit better in just about any vehicle. The adjuster is $10 and if your los are old enough to be more upright worth trying.

We have a Ford Fusion (2009) and a Honda Pilot (2012) and can fit 2 rear facing seats in both of the them.

In the Fusion we had better luck with seats center and passenger side but I was able to get the myride in back of DH without having to move the seat too much. In the Pilot we have the Myride in back of the driver right now and there is a couple of inches of room. I haven't tried the Radian there yet.

Really anything will work. I'd go off of what you want and with a few exceptions, we can give your suggestions on seats that fit. :)
