kohl's return policy's and is a return worth it?

I bought a car seat with kohl's cash. My dd doesn't have enough room in it to make it worth keeping the seat. I was just going to sell, but realized I'd get more kohl's money back than what I would get in cash, selling the seat. Then again, I don't know that I want anything that kohl's sells or if it's even a good deal. Maybe it would be better to have less money, but in cash, so I can spend it wherever? I do not have a kohl's in my town. It's about an our away. Years ago when I had a kohl's gift card, I wandered around the store and ended up spending $25 on girls' panties and a baby board book.

So, if I spent kohl's cash on this item that I am returning, would I be given cash, kohl's cash, or a gift card?

What would you do if you were me? Get $200 to spend at kohl's or sell to have $100 cash?

Not sure how popular Kohl's is so don't know if this would work…could you get the $200 gift card/Kohl's cash and sell it for $150 cash? Thus making more money than you would selling the seat.

Depending on the circumstances and payment method Kohl's will either refund your money or, if it was purchased with a gift card or Kohl's cash, they'll give you merchant credit. Merchant credit is used pretty much like a gift card. All sales/promos apply and it doesn't expire.

I would return it and get the refund or merchant credit. If I couldn't find anything on Kohls.com to spend it on, I'd sell the merchant credit. It comes on a little card that's very similar to a gift card.

Thanks for that info! A kohl's gift card can be use anytime, unlike kohl's cash. I'm sure I can find something if I watch sales.

FWIW even though Kohl's cash has an expiration date, they will still take it after it's expired.

Just a note--DH returned something he paid for using Kohl's cash and the in-store giftcard they gave him had an expiration date of within 30 days. It looked like a store credit card but was a little different.

That is really strange. I bought some pans just a couple weeks ago with my Kohl's Cash but DH wanted cast iron, which they didn't carry in the store. I returned them and got credit. I was specifically told there was no expiration date. I was told the same thing at the cashier when I was asking about the return policy (DH is really picky about his cookware and I wasn't sure he'd like what I picked out). AND I've heard the same thing here several times, including from someone on this forum that used to work for Kohl's.

I haven't bought the cast iron yet. I'm sitting around waiting for a good sale.

I went and returned the item. They gave me store credit with no expiration date. (I asked.) I spent it all anyway on clothes for my big girls. I hope they wear them. They told me they would.

Really? I didn't know that. I've thrown out Kohl's cash I forgot to use.

What I heard is that if you take it to the store during an "earning" time you can exchange it for non-expired KC to use during the next redemption period.

And we have to go back to return/exchange clothes. I'm a ditz. I told my girls to go pick out some t-shirts and silly me assumed they'd pick the correct size. I didn't realize it until we got home.
