    My lens is sold!

Still looking for a Nikon 35 or 50mm. 1.4 or 1.8g, not picky on that!

Do you?! I had a chance to buy one and didn't and now I'm mad. Lol. I think I'd like it better than the 18-55. I just dont ever use it so I'd like to sell it to buy one I would use more.

I own a 50mm 1.4 and I love it. The next purchase will be 35mm. I would give you a pic as an example but I don't know if I have any in photobucket. I will look

I just got my 50 1.4 2 months ago. It hasn't left my camera yet! Love it. very different than using a zoom lens, but after you get the hang of it, it's lovely.

    Thank you !
My kid is 29 months old and I think I have close to 10.000 pics of her. I go a little overboard

The bottom photo is of her Valentines photoshoot. I took 86 photos and got FOUR good ones. The only reason that one is good is because it is of her back, she was throwing a fit that she didn't want me taking pics of her

Can I ask you all WHICH 50mm you have? The 1.4D/1.4G or the 1.8D/1.8G?
Looking at both, but the 1.4G seems to be OUTRAGOUS for price. I'm leaning towards the "d" versions...

    mine is the AF-S 50mm 1.4G
I paid more for the AF. I love my lens. I am glad I got the 1.4 because there are times when I need to drop it that tiny bit more.

I have the AF-S because it's the one with auto focus. My camera is a crop body and it doesn't have auto focus, and I didn't want to deal with manual focus. The ones without auto focus are cheaper, but you need to check which one will work with your camera.

The 1.4 is faster than 1.8 ( although not as fast as I would like, so I don't think I would like to step down to a 1.8). I went through the same thing you are going through, trying to choose between the 35mm 1.8, 50mm, 1.8 and 50mm 1.4, and at the end I figured I would go with the best one because my camera isn't as good. How is does your camera perform in low light? Can you set it at high ISO and get crystal clear photos? Mine sucks, anything over 200 is garbage, so I definitely wanted lens that would perform extremely well in low light.

The camera does awesome in low light I can go as high as about 2000 ISO and still be good. I can go up to about 6000 ISO but I don't use it that high. Or haven't yet anyway. I think I'm leaning towards the 1.8

Another one not interested in trading but just want to chime in that you won't regret it! I shoot exclusively with my 35mm and 50mm f/1.8's and I couldn't be happier. I actually sold on my 18-200mm because I've found I really prefer primes over zoom lenses. I can't wait until I have the money to add a few more lengths to my stash. And upgrade my body.

Oh good you have a 35... Which do you prefer out of the two? I'm torn.

Hmmm, it's a toss-up! Indoors (I do newborn shoots, and I use natural light, which can be... constraining) I prefer the 35, just because of space restrictions. But, I do think the 50 does better in low light, and the bokeh is AMAZING. The 35 have good bokeh, but nothing compared to the 50.
