I don't know where to ask: Why can't I start a thread in the swap?

<swap content removed by moderators per the swap guidelines> it says I don't have permission to post.

Did you check out the Read This First and other stickies in Swap? They explain the requirements. I don't remember the specifics, but it is length of membership, or purchasing a subscription.

I also have disabled reputation :/. I'm not going to buy a subscription just to list this ffs....so guess I'll try elsewhere.

The subscription goes to support the forums so it is a good cause at least.

FYI, it's against the rules to list items you're selling, even if it's just to find out if you can sell them. Doing do counts as an attempt to get around the swap guidelines.

sorry, I changed it to not give direct details. I didn't think there would be those mins to buy/sell. Especially if I am just listing ffs. I figure maybe someone could use it but it's the kind of thing you don't donate to a thrift store because someone will use it in a wrong seat.

I'll try to list it on ds,...I just know there would be more interest here.

I tend to not give rep to people that have their rep disabled. Is there a reason you have yours off?

Ah ha! Figured it out. Under quick links then edit options it said I had 9 reputation points and had a box to check/uncheck. It was un checked. So I fixed that, no idea why it was un checked though.

The sad reality is that it's pretty expensive to host a high traffic forum, not even including the time to maintain it. Various restrictions on advertising and selling items are unfortunately necessary for that reason. The other reason is that without these restrictions, spam would overrun many of the forums and swap would be a complete free-for-all, moreso than it is now. There is free access to Swap, but it takes a year to obtain along with a certain post and reputation count. On the plus side, it's only a few bucks for the least expensive subscription and you get rid of almost all the advertising placements and a few other perks as well.

And even though I have free access to swap I choose to support the forums. It's a good cause.

I'm really glad you posted this! I didn't realize I had reputation turned off, I actually didn't think I had any.

It seems to hard to get reputation is my only complaint. I have been here a year and a half and consider myself to be on here pretty regularly and I only have 67 reputation points and I need to have I think 150...

Anyways I subscribe because it is nice to be able to purchase from people that I know I can trust and who care about safety as much as me... just wanted to point out another perk from buying/selling here. :)

It's really not. The more you open up the more people see you are helping it comes.

Believe me if anyone was not going to get it it would be me. I had a rough start here. But now I have near 300 rep.
ETA:
I take that back. Just checked. 302 rep points. Makes me feel so good to have earned some high fives from people I truly respect and am in debt to for teaching me so very much.

auto correct hates me

Also, the amount of reputation you need is lower after 2 years registered.
