dumb question about LATCH anchors

Ok so none of the cars I normally use have LATCH. So all I know about LATCH I've learned from reading. :D

On Sunday my FIL will be over and we'll be using his car on Monday to go to the state fair. He has a 2001 or 2002 PT Cruiser. I do know that you CAN use LATCH in the center position in the 2002 Cruiser but honestly I have no idea what the LATCH anchors look like.

Will they be obvious? I don't trust my FIL to even still own his manual to the car so I'll need to know what I'm looking for beforehand. I mean I could just use the seat belt too but I figured since it's a car that actually has LATCH I should use it so at least I've done it before (lol).

I also know that if it takes me more then 5 min to look like I know what I'm doing I'll get lip about it and never hear the end of it. So any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes they're quite far back that you can't see them at all & using them can be a PITA -- not sure about the Cruiser, though....

Oh Patriot, do all cars have that symbol? That is so nice to mark where they are. It would probably make too much sense for the car manufacturers to do something like that on every car though.

I mean if I can't find them I'll just do a belt install, it doesn't matter to me really. I just thought it might be nice practice :D

most, if not all, cars i've seen with LATCH have either a little button or a sticker indicating where the lower anchor is. the same is not true for the top tether anchor.

I think that if the anchor isn't visible, then they are supposed to have something to show where they are like a "label" or "sticker."

Many anchors are visible if you are looking for them.

Ours do not have any markers on them. What I usually do if I am installing in someone else's car if I don't see anchors, I quickly run my fingers in the seat bight to feel for them. If I don't feel them, I just install with the seat belt.

There is no little marker showing where my latch's are but they stick out so you cant really miss them.
