The britax MA says you can use LATCH with a child up to 48lbs, but if you add the 20lbs of carseat, that's 68lbs you are putting on the latch anchors, if the vehicle manufacture says LATCH MAXIMUM WEIGHT 48lbs, is that including the 20lb carseat??? :confused:

The maximum LATCH weight limit is only taking into consideration the Child's weight. You do NOT include the carseat's weight.

So if your max LATCH limit is 48lbs, then once your CHILD reaches 48lbs, you switch to seatbelt install. Make sense?

No, the vehicle and carseat LATCH numbers are the child's weight only. No need for us to try to weigh kids plus seat weights and add it all up to keep track. :)

right. weight of child only. an average CR weight is assumed and calculated in to those ratings. it was done that way for simplicity sake and to avoid confusion.
