Question please don't laugh broken foam question

I have a Radian 80 that had broken foam in the upper portion from one of our foster sons. I called Diono and they sent me the replacement piece... so I thought all was well. When I got the piece it was just for the side of the seat so I had to cut the foam to fit the new piece in and the lady at Diono told me that I was to craft glue the foam to the piece I had to cut (the upper back foam) so this is what I did. I was nervous that may not be strong enough so I put duct tape on the part that I taped and on the other side too. Is this safe? I do not want to use the seat until I am 100% sure that it will be okay to use. I'm NEW to the carseat thing so I always like to be reassured that I am doing the right thing or wrong thing so I can correct it. Thanks in advance!

Taping is fine.

What freaks me out is she wanted it CUT and glued? I trust me, but I don't trust everyone to do that!

It scared me too Judi that's why I wanted to ask... I did an even cut and then just placed it next to it. It fit like a puzzle piece- it was nice and tight but it still made me SO nervous. Thank you so much for reassuring me that the tape is okay- that was my concern since she didnt say to tape it. I just worried that glue may deteriorate over time.

Oh I guess I should say that I sent her pictures from 3 angles of the break and it was a jagged break and... it's hard to explain but on the break some of the foam was still there and at the other end it wasn't so that was what she wanted me to cut.
