They are incredibly hard to open, but they don't make the cabinet so tight the kid can't pull out and stick their hand up inside and pull stuff out anyway. we had them on a cabinet over our bathroom radiator. I had everything bad up high and not reachable even with a stool so it was just annoying stuff being pulled out but still. I'd rather deal with stupid things being pulled out and played with than those cabinet locks.

We used to just pull them apart in the middle rather than disengaging the locking mechanism. I am guessing some deft children also figured out this trick.

My MIL has these locks and for now they are doing a great job. She opens the cabinet and forgets to close them, then my 2 yr ops comes in and locks them. She has lost all interest in what is in the cabinet she just wants the locks locked.
