Why is the back safest?

Does anyone have any credible links/info from reliable sources as to why the back is considered the most safest and why? I know why, I just need some "credible" sources. The more I can get the better please!!!!! TIA!

Just looking in my CPST manual and see I wrote down that the back is 38% safer but can't find where that info came from lol
