Too small for infant bucket

I just brought DD2 home from the hospital yesterday and she is too small for her SS1. I think it is the 30lb seat. Deco pattern if you know it.

So the crotch strap is really far away from her and the shoulder straps are abover her shoulders by about a half in. How can I fix the seat to fit her better? I already have all the straps on the smallest setting. The seat comes with just an infant head piece.

I do also have a SR22, but have heard the straps are even higher on it.

Help! I need to make this work. She is our last and we cannot buy another seat.

Stats: Coming home she was 6lbs 6oz and 19 3/4 in long.

You can roll a wash cloth up and place it between her and the crotch strap. That should help some.

My girls were teeny too, 6lbs 3 oz and 5 pounds 15oz. With dd2 I had a chaperone and she fit nicely with the low birth weight foam but with dd1 all I had a was SR22. It fit her okay, but the straps were above her shoulders.

The new SR35s have an infant insert that goes under the bum and between crotch and strap for babies under the bottom strap slot. I wonder if Graco would allow you to use one of those seeing as the seats are the same (bit tested to different weights). They allow you to use other accessories such as the SR35 base with the SS1 so perhaps they would allow this. I'd call and ask if you can and order one if they allow it.

It's a 2 part insert and the bottom half is detached once baby can reach bottom slots without it (or if baby is between 4 and 5#). Top half can continue to be used while baby is on 1st or 2nd slots, but isn't mandatory.

Congratulations!
Yeah, just roll up a washcloth and put it between her and the crotch strap (the new gracos DO have that built in, it's really cool!), and don't worry about the shoulder straps (she's not heavy enough to ramp up anywhere if you happen to be in a crash before she's AT the strap slots...the newborn dummies they use for testing barely even make the seats move in a crash test, the engineers at Lifesavers once tried not to laugh in my face when I asked about straps being too high on newborns, it's such a non-issue )

Not sure how you can make it work but if you can get an OB 35 (borrow one or something) they work well for small infants. I brought my daughter home at 4 lbs 3 oz and 18 inches and she fit fine. They even have this thing where you route the crotch strap differently so its not so high up on them, she did still need a wash cloth rolled up for a while though.

ETA: Im sorry, now that I think about it that probably wasn't very helpful at all.
