A Few Coccoro Questions

Sorry for posting so many threads the last few days. Im just trying to decide if I want to replace DD's MR with something else or with another MR.

I am starting to consider a coccoro possibly. How long does this seat typically last? DD is 6 months (in a few days) a little over 12 lbs, 23 inches, and her torso is about 9 inches. (not 100% on the torso that might be a little off, she didn't want to be measured)

Also how are the covers? It always seems the ones I see have a lot of places that get ruined by the feet. Is this just from wearing shoes?

ETA: Also in some of the pictures I have seen of them installed the seatbelt goes around behind the seat. What is that all about?

If she's that petite at 6 months, it will probably last rf through at least age 2- possibly longer. There's a poster here whose son has a tiny torso, and IIRC he still fits rf at age 3.5.

One of my covers got snagged when dd wore socks with velcro tabs on the ankles to keep them on (for a 6 hour road trip ).

The Coccoro allows (but doesn't require) European routing of the shoulder belt. It reduces downward rotation and stabilizes the seat. The CCO now also allows rf tether use, similar to Britax and Diono.

My daughter, who is consistently in the 25th percentile H/W, outgrew the CCO RF at 2yrs, 1 month. I then replaced with a My Ride. I never had any problems with the covers. (We had two: brown and red) The Sweedish install has the seatbelt going around the back of the seat. It looks complicated, but it's really easy to do once you get the hang of it. I really preferred it, but I'm pretty sure it's not required. Plus, if you use LATCH, you don't have anything going behind the seat. I always used the seatbelt because the "weird" routing was the whole reason I bought the seat :) I also never had problems with the kids playing with the part of the seatbelt that wraps around, or getting the kid in over the seatbelt (but yeah, you have to lift the kid over the seatbelt to put him/her in).

I have a peanut child and at 19 months she still has about 4" of growing room in the CCO. Maybe 5... I really like the seat but have wrestled with the install in the center seats of both of our cars. And that was working with a tech. I have had no problem installing it with LATCH in either car and having that install work outboard though.

Our cover has just a little bit of piling from shoes but she needs to wear lace ups due to her braces, so those don't snag; velcro does though.

I think we've kind of settled on about 2yo on an average. The tall 14mth old I have now won't make it that far, though.

I like the Euro routing, more than I like the RF tether.

The feet of the cover do get worn a bit, even before there are shoes I think. But that's the quirk of the cover. It doesn't really bother me.

on my Kindle Fire using the app...I make much more sense IRL...

My daughter was a little peanut at that age, but at 6 or 7 months she finally started growing! She is now 18 months old and is no longer small for her age at all. She weighs 28 lbs and is about 31" tall. She still has an inch or so of growing room over her head in the Coccoro. I've given up trying to predict her wonky growth pattern. But my guess is that she'll outgrow the CCO around age two, at least for RF and maybe FF also by harness height.

Thanks for all your help. I wish I lived closer to a place where I could try out some seats. I'm still trying to decide but I'm leaning toward just replacing it with another MR because I know that seat works for us and I really do like it.

DS is 21 months and has about 1/2 from out growing his. His last stats were 30lbs clothed and 35" with shoes. I'm not sure on his torso height but he's got long legs. We started using his around 10 months. It's my favorite car seat. We just got him a MA70 so when the weather gets nicer this will become his sister's seat. It can be fickle to install at first, but once you get the hang of it you should be fine. We just bought a van today and it took me longer to get the SR32 base installed than my CCO.

Unless you need a lightweight travel seat (for airplanes and such) I think the My Ride is probably a better value.

I have a Coccoro because I kind of collect car seats. DD has ridden in it once. She'll ride in it again this weekend because we're going on a train and renting a car, and it will be the easiest seat to haul on the train and the most sure fit in a small rental car. If you fly a lot, I'd say go for the Coccoro and if your baby stays petite you'll get a lot of use out of it; and if not, you'll still find it convenient for travel. But otherwise I'd say go with the longevity of the My Ride.

Pretty much exactly this. My youngest is now 20 months and about 21-22lbs. Not sure on height but she wears 24 month tops. She still has 4-5 inches of shell. I find it finicky to install with the seatbelt in some cars but easy with latch.

My daughter is 27 months old and is about ranges between 28 and 30 fully clothed and has over an inche before out growing heightwise.
