Tall and skinny DD, 5yo, lower budget seat required

My DD is 5.5yo and 37.5lbs. She is currently in a Safety 1st Enspira seat that is close to expiry. I am uncertain what I should do as I know she should stay harnessed and not be put into a booster until she is over 40lbs. She has a short torso so she appears to be still fitting into her current seat (harness is still above shoulders etc) and I have looked at what other seats are available but just not sure. The Evenflo Maestro looked like a good option until I read a review of it being used a booster and the results were not good. I have also read that the Nautilus and Frontier are good options but I do not have the budget for those. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Maestro may still be a fine choice for your dd. It won't be the last booster she'll need, but if she's short in the torso it may last her a couple years after she hits 40lbs. Most of the child/booster seats won't be the last booster you need anyways so you can plan on having to buy a dedicated booster at some point down the road anyways.

If you can get 2 yrs out of the Maestro, then you can probably move her straight in to a backless booster at that point and you can buy a backless booster for as little as $20 provided you have head support in the position you plan to use it.

For price, harness height, and at least a little use as a booster, the maestro is going to be your best bet. Belt fit is generally good with the maestro - it's just a matter that it's outgrown about the same time as the harness. But this likely won't be a big issue with your dd having a short torso.

The sale at Walmart is exactly what prompted me to do this research today :) I think I'm almost sold, just don't want to make a poor decision and wishing I had more money to spend. It does seem like a good option for the money though.
