Question Continuous harness on the Maestro??

Is that the correct terminology? (I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong area)

I'm having a hard time getting them adjusted equally. One side seems to pull tighter than the other lately. I used to have the same issue with his MA every now and again, but I'd just loosen them all the way out and then start over. After one time, they would even up.

It took 3 times tonight to try and get them equal and I still couldn't get them 100% equally tight. One time, the harness strap over his left shoulder came OFF the "Y" connector thingy! Yes..it pulled through the slot . I flipped out and uninstalled the seat and put it back on- Now, could I have made it do that from loosening it all the way so much or did I just not have it on well enough when I installed it? YIKES!!!!!!

What am I doing wrong? I want this seat to work for us b/c I bought one for the in-laws to use as well. I know it has to be user error- HELP???

A continuous harness is one that goes all the way from behind the seat, under the child's bum, and then back up to behind the seat. Instead of two straps you have one long continuous strap. If you pull on the left side, the right will tighten, and vice versa.

Likely the strap wasn't put back on the splitter plate properly after the last time you did it. Seats are routinely tested and used where they are loosened and tightened a whole lot of times. Straps shouldn't fall off the splitter plate. But the plates are designed to be a pain to get the straps on and off of, so that way you do have to fight to get it on. Otherwise it might come off in a crash. User error is the more likely explanation, which is good. Now that you've done it once, and nothing came of it, you'll be very paranoid in the future and it'll never happen again, in all likelihood. It's possible it's the seat, I've seen it before, but 90% of the time I've seen it it's been user error (and I've slipped getting some back on as well, so I'm also very paranoid, and I tell every parent I do a check with to make sure it's completely back on).

If it is a continuous harness, pulling straight out on the chest clip after it's buckled will even things out. That's how I get Laine's even every day. If it's not, and one side is looser than the other, then likely it's caught or twisted somewhere. Go over the harness slowly, reinstall it carefully so the harness doesn't get caught up anywhere, and see if that helps. Otherwise, I don't know. Maybe someone else has had something similar happen.

Thank you so much, Wendy!!!

I'm going to try & do a seat belt install with it this afternoon & will play with the straps again b4 we go anywhere with DS. We're going to be installing it in a 2000 Explorer tonight with a seatbelt so I want to get the gist before I show the inlaws how to do it.
