moving chest clip down HELP

DD has been moving her chest clip down and taking her arms out of her harness. I cannot get her to stop. I know that it is dangerous but she is my no fear child. She has jumped out of her crib and broken her left arm and 2 weeks ago she jumped off some stairs and broke her right wrist. She is riding in a true fit right now in my car which she rides in everyday. Today she did it so she could take off her coat. How do I get her to stop? Would buying a Frontier help since there would be hugs?

Eek! My only idea is that trendz seat with sewn on chest clip if she will fit

Sent from my iPod touch, sorry for any auto-correct typos!

She is 32 pounds last time I checked.

She was just wearing a light weight fleece coat unzipped. She is already only wearing short sleeves since she broke her wrist and is in a cast.

As long as there are no cognitive delays or behavior issues, she should be able to be taught that it is not okay. If she moves it down, she can't go in the car because it is unsafe. Explain to her that it has to be there in case something were to happen.

Bribery? "If you stay in your seat, properly buckled from home to (store, school, wherever), you will get a special treat (2 skittles, 2 m&ms, 2 smarties, something small). Do this every single ride for a while until she quits messing with things.
The treat could also be small reward like extra computer time, an extra game with mom, a sticker on a chart that once she reaches (x) amount of stickers, she gets an ice cream cone or candy bar, something she likes.
Instant reward though, a friend tried to delay by saying the reward would come after all errands were done. He was out all the time while they were out, has to be immediate.

I might try bribery but DH wants to do punishments instead. For example taking away a toy or a cd she likes listening to.

When my nanny kid wouldn't sit properly in her booster I put a sticky note on the back of the seat in front of her and put the stickers in a visible place. If she rode well she got a sticker on her chart (the sticky note). When she filled the chart she got a surprise. It is a constant reminder that she needs to sit properly in the car and we have not had a problem since. She was a bit older but the 3yo also got stars in the car and it helped his behavior a ton too (he whined all the time).
Good luck!

Thanks I will have to try that. We had a bad car trip home but that was because she whined most of the way. At least she kept her harness on. Right now I am glad we decided to fly to Disney instead of drive for this reason.

I have a couple of chases that I use and do not like the harnesd at all. The srtaps twist like crazy every time so thankfully there just for the daycare kiddos any are only used once a week or so. Thought id let you know although it would help your problem.
