My sister and I used to have the one in the middle to play with our dolls. LOL I think it was her's from when she was a baby, but I'm not sure.

Wow! I had no idea such seats existed. I was born in 83, I'll have to ask if I was ever rear-facing!

Haha, love the chest clip.

My brother & I were rear-facing in '79 & '81 in Strollee convertibles. Classic, what's the RF weight limit on that seat? My mom thinks we were RF to the limit, but can't remember what that was.

I believe it's 17 lbs?

One thing I will say about those seats is they are nice and narrow and it looks like you would have a lot of successful 3 across situations with them.

Those are really cool! I think my carseat obsession started in those days. I remember thinking my friend who had a shield booster in kindergarten was really cool!

On the seats with the shield type front, how do you put the kid in? Slide them behind the shield or unbuckle & rebuckle each time?

Really user friendly, unbuckle, strap in the kid, and rebuckle every time! And if you look real close, you can see the latch on the shield that clamps down on the car seat belt to keep the seat from moving from side to side.

I am embarrassed to say that I USED a rear facing seat like that for my oldest son for a little while before I knew better. It was given to me by a friend of the family and her kids were probably 12 ish by then. Thankfully, we were never in an accident.

However, I will say that it installed very easily in my 1975 Chevy truck.

I personally don't remember being in a car seat - but I remember my siblings (all born in the late 80's) using such seats. What I remember was their skin just sticking to the vinyl in the heat - and we lived in Wisconsin so it's not like we endured heat all that often! I have one memory of fanning my baby sister with a church bulletin while we were stuck with a flat tire.
