Certified Car Seat technicians or equivalent in Canada

Hi there - we are a US based foundation with three recipient families in Canada that we will be donating the new 65lbs Marathons to. We don't ship directly to families, but in the US we ship to Child Passenger Safety technicians. Can you advise how I would go about finding the eqivalent technicians in Canada to set up these donations?

Depends on where in Canada you are sending them. I start by contacting St. John's Ambulance as they certify the Canadian Techs. Also these are Canadian seats right As it is illegal to bring US certified carseats into Canada.

I am in Manitoba, if you inform us which provinces they are going to there may be someone here who could help.

Yes - these will be the new Canadian seats. The recipients are in :

Edmonton, Alerbta
New Minas, Nova Scotia
Canning, Nova Scotia

I know we have some tech's from Alberta, i'm thinking that snowbird25ca is from Edmonton :thumbsup:

Do you often help people in Canada get seats? I know of a family in need, how do I direct them to you?

This is a very new forray into Canada for us (good timing with the new weight limits on the MA and Radian). We tried to previously donate Radians but the distributor to whom the seats were shipped in NS decided he would keep the seats for himself (lovely people!)

So, we are hoping that doing this with Britax will be more successful. I would like to try to get these first three donations under our belt before we publically say we assist families in CA, but fingers crossed, we will be able to.

Of course, we'd love donations from Canada too!

Another option for Nova Scotia, since you are looking specifically for the New Minas/Canning area, is to contact Public Health in Wolfville, the public health office there arranges local seat checks and some of the nurses are certified techs - the local program is called "Snap Buckle Drive".

Also wanted to add, this would be a great contact for this area as the health nurses do home visits to all new mothers and would know who is in need. And there is no chance the seats would go missing!
