Tethers in a 97 Pathfinder?

We're going to be buying a 97 Nissan Pathfinder tomorrow. We looked at it today and I saw some things in the back cargo area that looked like tethers for FF, but I wasn't sure if they were that, or cargo anchors. Any insight? I won't have to worry about it for a while because both kids are RF but I'm just curious.

Also, do the seatbelts have locking retractors or will I need a locking clip? I forgot to check

The seatbelts do have locking retractors, but you should check that they work or they will need to be fixed/replaced.

No, the cargo tiedowns are NOT your TA's. We had 2 TA's installed in our previous '97 Pathfinder. I don't think DH paid for them, but it was a few years agod.

Since locking seatbelts became mandatory factory equipment for U.S. model vehicles in ~1996, a 1997 model should have lockable seatbelts.:) The '97 Pathfinder can be retrofitted with up to 3 top tether anchors and has 3 8mm weld nuts under the carpet in the rear cargo floor. Parts info. per the LATCH manual: Retrofittable pre-2000 model year Nissans use Nissan tether anchor retrofit part number 88894-89900 which retails for approx. $15 per part at Nissan dealerships. The bracket is in the kit but the bolt is usually pre-installed in the tether anchor point in the vehicle. If not, purchase the correct size bolt separately from the Nissan dealer. There is no part number for the bolt, but the exact size is specified in the owner's manual. Nissan uses 8 mm weld nuts and 8 mm x 1.25 inches (30 mm) bolts in most of its vehicles.
