I got a CPST job!!!!

I was offered the Child Passenger Safety Specialist job with Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs! It is to manage the Kohls Cares Grant. Oh my dream job!!!!! And... I turned it down  Yeah I'm crazy! I would have to move 4.5 hours away from where I am now by the 27th, which I think I could do, but... two instructors just (yesterday) quit at the gym I coach gymnastics at and I just can't leave 18 little girls with out a coach just before competition season. A week ago I was ready to go. I can't believe how things work out sometimes. I am so disappointed. :(

Total bummer :( I'm sorry!

I wish hospitals around here had CPST's on staff.... that would be amazing to work there but also to get the info out to the new moms in the community on how to keep their babies safe.

Bummer it didn't work out! We lived in the Springs when I was a kid - had my tonsils removed at Memorial when I was 3!

Thanks ladies! I honestly can't believe I was even offered the job! I am pretty proud of myself that I was offered the job. Today has been a pretty hard day for me but I'm good with my choice. I just can't let my girls down, I have had some of them for 7 years! On the plus side, a month ago I said I would teach a new technician class (yeah I haven't changed my "title" to instructor yet) in March and I'll be able to keep that commitment. Small things right? I really do love teaching new tech classes. *Blah* I think I'll have a "feel sorry for myself weekend" and then come Monday I need to shake it off.

Bummer!!!

But as a fellow coach, I really applaud you for sticking with your girls. That is so selfless and I'm sure better things will come from your decision.

I was working at Memorial Hospital about 9 years ago, in post partum. Loved that job!!! That is great that you got the offer and I understand why you didn't take it. I am now missing Colorado Springs because of your post.

Aww, too bad it didn't work out but congrats on getting picked for the job any way. I work at two hospitals as a CPST and I can't even begin to explain how much I love my job. It was what I was made to do. I hope something closer to your home comes up in your future.

The same happened here. I had a chance at a CPST job with Safe Riders but it is a 45 min drive and a full time job. Now is not the time for either.
