Question Issue with seat belt and crotch strap

I have an Evenflo Truimph Advance 65 and a 2008 Nissan Versa. I went to reinstall my 22 month old son's car seat and I realized that the seat belt hits the crotch strap when it is installed RF in the center. When I try to pull the crotch strap straight, it moves the shoulder part of the seat belt but doesn't affect the tightness of the belt. I'm not sure if this is a problem. For now I moved the car seat to the rear passenger side and used the latch instead. I'd prefer to keep his car seat in the middle though. If I'm remembering correctly, the seat belt is between the crotch strap and back seat, not between DS and the crotch strap (if that makes sense). I've tried googling but I haven't been able to find much information on others having this problem. Also, it doesn't say in the manual where exactly the path of the seat belt should be.
