I confiscated a Mighty-Tite today! On a Wizard, of all seats. Oyyy.

I was talking to a good friend about what carseat to get for her new baby, due sometime this fall. She has 2 other kids, a boy, 6, in a Jupiter Komfort Kruiser booster, and a girl, 3, in the WZ, FF. She only wants a convertible seat, and they want something new for the girl, so I've given some different options.

Anyway, I was talking about the Radian, and I said how the manufacturers made that "stupid Mighty Tite" and she said, "oh, what's wrong w/ it? I knew it, I told [dh] it was bad." And I told her it was a death trap. Well, it was 5 minutes later when she told me her dh swore by his - and I've checked this WZ a gazillion times in the past year and never seen it - but it was always in w/ LATCH. Well, they don't have LATCH in their new truck, so he's apparently gone back to his old trusty standby. Ugh. Mom gave me permission to confiscate it, LOL. The seat was installed w/ the ALR, the locking clip AND the MT. Nice and snug, that's for sure. I re-did it w/ ALR and explained why to Mom.

But now I've got a MT and I don't know what to do with it. Any creative uses? LOL

I also had the opportunity to check another neighbors seat, and need to find a spare strapy thing for the backless TB... they apparently lost theirs, and are using a seatbelt positioner w/ the backless TB for their 5 yr old, but beyond that were using appropriate seats appropriately for their other 2 kids... I did top tether their 2 yr olds AO, though. Mom didn't know what it was for.

First time I've played w/ someone elses seats all month...

Well. I'm so pregnant I'm having trouble wiping my butt. I bet I could use the Mitey Tite as a sort of extender to get the tushy paper down there. Wanna send it to me?

I have one. I DO NOT, under any circumstances, use it on any seats. I bought it to fix an issue with a ratcheting strap. It didn't work. Now I have one.

Well, you have to give the dad an A+ for effort. He wanted that thing in securely. Maybe next time, though, he should buck the trends of the Y chromosome and read the manual first. Where did he get a locking clip from anyway? LOL It didn't come with the Wizard, he must have gone looking for it.

Paper weight? Door stop? Seatbelt cutter? Something to use to hit around stubborn parents' heads? "You will *thud* turn your *thud* five month old *thud* rear facing *thud* and do up the buckle! *thud*"

Your day sounds very satisfying. :)

:ROTFLMAO: Ah yes - that wonderful state at the end of pregnancy we all try to block out . . . (((hugs))) You know you're almost done :duck: (don't throw anything at me - I know I *hated* when people said that! lol).

I meant the lock off. As in the built in one.

Dad is a firefighter, and he really tries hard. Mom was laughing the whole time, like ha ha ha ha, I told him it was wrong.

I'm thinking... for God's sake, I'm just across the street, you know I'm a CPST. When in doubt, what do you do? Ask the CPST.

I'm liking the suggestions I've recieved thus far. It's a bit big and bulky for a TP extender though. I think it's best use would be to beat the parents in the head with.

My neighbors suggested that they sell it in their yard sale tomorrow. I called him an idiot, and said that would only work if I was right next door checking seats. Sell MT, send parent to me, I confiscate death trap, fix seat, have a good day. Repeat. Very profitable. But yet, no.

I haven't seen one used, so I don't know how it works, but is there anyway you could thread a seat belt strap (not in a car, of course) through it and WAAAAAAY overtighten it to see if you can get the belt to stretch or break? Then show it to people who wonder why the Mighty Tite is unsafe.

Not sure if that would even be possible, but isn't that one of the risks associated with the MT?
