radian for small babies

I have a friend on fb who is asking if a radian is a good convertible seat for her dd. I didn't want to jump in and say yes before asking on here if it's a good one for small babies. She is coming close to outgrowing her infant seat but is around average to small for her age -don't know exact measurements, have just seen her. I wasn't sure if this was one of those seats where the top slots do not move down far enough and want to give an educated answer since she knows I'm a cpst! TIA!

If she is big enough to be outgrowing her infant seat then she is plenty big enough for a Radian. The bottom slots are in line with the bottom slots on many infant seats. Sometimes the harness won't tighten enough for a newborn, but this baby should be fine. If you wanted to use a Radian with a true newborn, Diono does sell shorter harness straps that should tighten adequately.

The radian is a great fit for small babies. It's one convertible that most babies should fit well in at birth. We've had members here bring babies home from the hospital in radians.

Thanks! I thought if she was outgrowing infant seat it would probably be fine but just wanted to double check! I actually have an xtsl but it isn't accesible for me to look at currently

My dd was about 6ish months if I remember right when we moved her to the radian and she did not outgrow her bucket till very recently.

Yep! My youngest was in a bucket for about a month before we switched him to his radian. It was a great fit for him and he was much happier!!

he hated his bucket seat!
