Potty training - how to keep seat dry...

My 3 year old daughter is still rear facing in a MyRide 65. She has been potty training and is in week 3 - she is really good about it, hasn't had many accidents at all, but is not at all sleep trained. This afternoon, I have to take my son to speech 45 minutes away, my daughter ALWAYS falls asleep on the way. I don't want to put her in a diaper or pull up, because she really feels negative about them now that she's a "big girl" and I hate to "punish" her before the fact... I was thinking that I could put a plastic grocery bag under her and partially up her back to protect the seat. I'm thinking that that wouldn't compromise her safety since it's not a thick padding or obstructing the harness/buckle. Am I correct? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

That, or maybe a chux pad. Or a cloth diaper under her if you have one. Or open a diaper and leave it in the seat for her to sit on.

I agree with Wendy's ideas. Just have her sit on a diaper. I used to just put a diaper on for shopping, etc. I wasn't willing to risk it and dd was okay with it.

I used a chux pad for mine. Or ...an outgrown raincoat waterproof side up (because its washable and fairly thin).

there are "piddlepads" designed for carseats. i have yet to test them, but they seem to provide better coverage than a cloth diaper.
