Literider vs Parkway

Now that the time has come I really need to decide ( and start saving ) for boosters for my middle two. For the past seven months they have been riding in Literiders for convenience. Now that we will have a second vehicle I can leave their seats in a hbb won't be a hassle.

Space is an issue as I will be doing a 3 across with a TF. How does the width of the pwy compare to the Literider? Anyone have side by side pics? I definitely need to have enough room left for them to be able to buckle themselves during school pick ups.

Or maybe we should just stick with the Literiders?? The car to be bought will be an Impala (2000-2005 model) so there will be headrests in all back seat seats.

Ds2 is turning 6 in March, dd1 will be 7 in April. Both around 47 lbs, 17 inch torsos. They both are nice booster riders.

Also being in a car I worry about that extra inch they may get from a backless for head excursion room. Should I be concerned about that??

I have both and can compare them but won't be able to get to it maybe tomorrow night but more likely not until Saturday. I have a History test Friday. :p LMK if you still need me to then.

That would be very much appreciated!!

I like to have my kids in high backed boosters in cars without side airbags. Having that extra head protection makes me feel better. Now I'm not a tech and this is just my mommy-whos-watched-lots-of-crash-tests opinion.
Sleeping in the car is also much easier with a hbb.

I don't know if those cars have side airbags or not.

I have an OS parkway. The literider is wider where the arms flare out. Not sure about the newer parkways with arms.

You can see how the arms are more flared here...

I forgot to mention the statistics don't back this theory up. The stats we do have show no difference in injuries in accidents with a hbb rather than a lbb. The percentage of injuries is the same. However, we don't know where those boosters were located, the kind of collisions, etc.

All that said, my kids will stay in hbb's until they outgrow them in my main vehicle.:)

Is head excursion something I should factor in? With a lbb they will be able to sit all the way back flush with the vehicle seat possibly giving them an extra inch or two.

I wouldn't worry about the head excursion room, it's a pretty big car. I like the Boost Air better than the new style parkways (narrower at the back of the base, between the seatbelt anchors and armrests flip up), but the Literiders might be all you need to keep.

I'm with Jools. If you were in a tiny car, I'd worry more, but thinking about my parents' Impala, HE room isn't something that concerns me.

That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with going with your Mama gut. You're trading HE rom for SIP, essentially. My, er, not-the-Mama gut would go with HBB, but supposedly there's no difference in outcomes, so...

Basically they're the same width at the armrests, the PW may be a tad narrower. But the base of the LR is narrower which makes it earlier to buckle if it fits.

HTH!

Did you swap out the SG clip for the style that is on the SGL or is that an SGL with a SG cover?

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the Literider/parkway sitting next to each other on the floor? Or one from the side comparing the contours?
