My Beckett GN is here and I'm not even excited

I haven't even opened the box yet.

I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep it or return it to Target. I know it performs well untethered which is a good thing, but I also know my kid will have head slump in it.

And it's still really wide for that center spot next to Abigail. She would just have to deal with staying in a booster and having me help her every time she buckles or unbuckles.

I haven't been this unexcited about a car seat that I can remember.

Now that I am VERY excited about. :)

I think it's more the situation than the seat. I'm insanely frustrated trying to find a seat that will work for Caleb in my suburban.

I got the FR85 installed center and Abi's booster fits next to it, BUT it's super tight and the red clip that holds the cover on gets snagged on the fold down seat when I move it. I'm afraid that will eventually break that little clip. Also, Abigail is on the top setting of her TB. I'm going to try the PW next to the Frontier when it gets here because the girl needs a taller seat.

I really bought the PW for Kaleigh because she's been begging for a cow booster, but if Abi needs the height and it will fit.... Kaleigh will be disappointed though. I'll probably let Kaleigh have the cow and get Abi one of her choosing if it fits. I'm not wonderfully thrilled with the idea of Kaleigh in a booster anyway. I'm hoping the SG clip will help me feel better about it.

I'm sorry. I freaking love my Beckett GN and have no head slump issues yet. I  it amd I hope you will too.

I suppose it's a better option than the Maestro. My girls both had head slump in the GN. I loved it for every reason but that one.

However, I was just checking the manual in the Maestro and they've changing the wording. It now reads...

Evenflo strongly recommends using the top anchorage (tether) strap when using this seat with the internal harness. Using the tether strap will improve the stability of the child restraint and my reduce the risk of injury.

Does that change anyone's opinion? I mean, all car seat manufacturers pretty much say the same thing. Maybe the Maestro doesn't perform any differently than any other untethered seat? I'm so confused with this situation.

That's so confusing that they changed it. That's what most manufacturers say. I'd probably call and ask why they once had the other wording and mow changed it.

I'm thinking someone realized that the other wording might lead to 3 year olds in a booster, adn that wasn't good.

Exactly. That is what makes me hesitate to use it untethered when there is a seat that will work that I know performs well untethered. For all I know, the maestro could do just as well, but with wording like that it makes me uneasy and I don't want my child to be the one to find out why.

For what it's worth I had a GN center and a TB driver side outboard in my 2000 'burb for years and my then very uncoordinated dd was able to buckle herself. I also had no problems flipping up the seat next to the GN but I have had the same exact problem with the FR and the little clip on the cover getting caught that you've experienced. Hope you find something that works and makes you happy.
