I have been thinking about it for a while, there is NOTHING in our county. So I called the local health department, and the talked to the public health nurse. She was so nice, she said that they are currently trying to get a safekids chapter in my area and if I get certified that they would be willing to add me to their list of volunteers and then maybe hire me on from there. I am so excited. There is a course close in September, but it is a closed course and I am waiting to hear back on if I can get in. Any tips on that? I emailed the instructor, but haven't heard back yet.

I got into a controlled class. The only advice I have is email the instructor and let them know that you want to get certified so you can assist in getting a SK chapter in your area. I happened to email an instructor in my town that did not have the class listed yet and I told him I would be more than happy to assist in whatever way I could to get a SK chapter in my area. I emailed a few tmes, so they knew I was very interested.
