Any hope for my TF headrest cover?

DD puked on the TF the other day, so hubby washed it...its been washed many times before without incident -- however, when it came out this time, the padding in the headrest cover was all bunched up, almost in a ball.

I tried and tried to get it straightened out and it wasn't going anywhere. In a fit of desperation I cut a tiny hole in the back fabric so I could see what kind of padding is in there and hopefully use a finger or two to get it straightened back out (it felt like it was folded over in half).

Well, the padding is basically like quilt bunting and/or pillow stuffing....and its all "felted" together for a lack of better word. To pull it apart, its actually ripping the little fiber things apart, so I'm assuming for some reason the washer actually "felted" the bunting together this time.

Is there any way to save it? I'm guessing not, but really hoping  as this is my absolute favorite seat, and absolute favorite cover, and I just sold my extra identical cover like two months ago.

Cut it open, spread out the stuffing, sew the hole shut?

Don't know if its safe to do that...

Maybe call the manuf. and see what they suggest..

Im going to call them today...but I'm guessing they're not going to have any recommendations, due to the fact that I'm pretty sure the TF covers are ones that are only supposed to be hand washed :( Need to double-check the manual on that.

What cover?

I just checked the manual (I have a TF too and was curious about washing), and it says hand wash and hang to dry. .... Got luck with calling them, and sorry about your cover :(
