Question What age - no back booster?

At what age are you comfortable with a no back booster? Or are some of you never comfortable with one? Dd has been asking. Turns 8 in 2 weeks and average height and weight. She asks often to use the booster without the back (harmony literider she uses in hubby's vehicle or safety 1st air protect without the back). She rides without back in dd's car (three across has made it a struggle). In my van she has a Monterey with a shoulder belt that falls out and makes the shoulder belt fit not ideal so I don't like it. She also tends to sit forward in the Monterey for some reason. We don't make long trips often so I don't have to consider that (and I would just use the turbo if we were).

I don't know if I should keep fighting to have her in a hbb or just get her a best bet lbb. We both drive Hondas with side curtain air bags (08 and 11 and she will be outboard in both). I am comfortable with the shoulder belt fit in the positions she will be in. Please share your thoughts. Thx!

My son just switched at 8.5 to a nbb in my mom's car. We needed 3 across and the nbb was what fit.

However, he told me that he preferred his high back and the ability to lean his head to the side. So I don't think we'll be moving to a nbb in either of our cars any time soon.

If a kid was comfortable with it, I think 8 or so is an ok time to move to a nbb.

We switched my oldest when he was 8, to an Amp. I love that seat so much. Our Ody is just not very good at accommodating any of the taller HB's, and we have side curtain air bags, so I felt comfortable with him in the Amp completely. He also RARELY falls asleep, if he does we use one of those really squishy neck roll pillows for behind his neck. My middle child will be switching to an Amp soon as he is just about too tall for the HBTB.
