Radian XTSL Huge Harness Pads???

I found a thread previously where it was discussed but it seemed unclear.

I noticed that it came with these huge pads that are larger than my child's torso. Due to this I am unable to tighten and buckle it without it being somewhat loose.

So it is normal for you to be able to slide your hand between the infant and the pads? Trying to get an 19 lb 7-month old (adjusted) infant in and it just doesn't seem tight enough to me.

I am just use to it being pretty snug with him in his SnugRide but this one seems too loose.

Also, what is the "Pinch test" ?

I will be RearFacing it, do I need to use top tether? and where would you tether it to? I couldn't find anywhere in my 2003 Camry XLE to do so.

Thanks!

In the meantime, it's ok to take those monstrosities off completely.

I think they might be ok for much bigger, forward-facing children, but most people find they have trouble tightening the harness on infants and toddlers with those things attached. They were a pretty short-lived "feature" that Sunshine Kids only put out for a couple of months and then discontinued - probably due to customer complaints.

And scroll down to the video labeled: Installing a Rear-Facing Tether Connector Strap (D-Ring)

You might also want to watch one of the videos about installing a rear-facing Britax seat with the tether; the tether process is the same whether it's Britax or a Radian.
