Back pain in a Marathon?

Has anyone heard of a child with back pain in a Marathon? I received this message this morning:

"Car seat Q for you.. [Child] has been in a Britax Marathon for almost 2 years. About a week ago, she started screaming every time I put her in, saying her back hurts. I took the seat totally apart to check it and everything looks good. I also checked her back, no bruises etc (and she only complains when she is in the carseat). Have you heard any similar stories? She's a pretty mild mannered kid, and not a big crier, so I'm leaning towards believing that something really is bothering her in that particular seat. Any suggestions?"

Child is 2.5yo and as of last June was under 30 lbs, still RFing and had "a ways to go before I will have to turn her." I'm not positive if she is still RFing or if she has been turned. Also not sure if it's a MA65 or a MA70 as the seat was replaced due to a crash in June.

I searched but either it's not a common complaint or my search juju is lacking today.

My friend's DD had a BV and any trip that was more than 5 miles she cried because her back hurt (she was FF). We tried propping her feet, changing the angle, etc. and nothing helped. It stopped when she moved into a Nautilus.

I saw a thread here recently where someone mentioned back pain in the MA. The TC crash test thread in SCM maybe...

.

It's a completely different reason in the BV. DD also had back problems and red spots in the BV. When it's adjusted to a higher setting, the foam under the cover has a gap in it. DD had head slump, which put pressure right on this part of her back. She'd get red sores from where her skin could push against the holes in the plastic. It was replaced with a MA and the problem was gone. MA foam is all one piece. This is with an old style MA, not sure how the newer ones are.

I had 3 kids use our original MA full time and none had back complaints. Used RF and FF for all 3.

My guess would be that she is a recent FFer and/or that her legs have grown enough that they are dangling and putting stress on her lower back. Quinn complainer about this occassionally.

Not in a MA, but my DD complained of back pain in her TF around 3ish. It was anytime she was in the seat for more than 5 minutes and she would cry and carry on. I took it out of the car, took the cover off, and inspected in thoroughly and there was nothing poking her. But the way she fit in the seat put pressure on her lower back IIRC and really did hurt her. In any other seat she was fine.

Oh, she was RFing in it.
