This article made me smile:D

Magazine: becoming US

Beginning on page 12, there is an article entitled "buckle up & boogie." It goes through the various stages of car seat usage.

Stage 2--Convertible
(Rear-facing: 5-40 lbs)
(Forward-facing: Minimum 2 years & 20-70 lbs)

Convertible car seats have higher rear-facing height and weight limits, so babies can ride rear-facing until the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation of 2 years.

Babies should remain rear-facing in convertible seats as long as possible, until they reach the manufacturer's maximum weight and height limits, at which time the seat can be turned to forward-facing.

ALWAYS MAKE SURE
When used rear-facing, make sure harness straps are at, or below, shoulder level, and that the slots used are designated in the user's manual as safe for rear-facing use.

We've come a long way baby......

That's a great article. Is there an online version we could share on facebook?

Not sure. I couldn't find an online version. I got this magazine from my ob/gyn's office--it's titled "Becoming US: A Comprehensive Resource for Getting Ready for the Baby" Winter 2011-2012 issue.
