Hi all I am new to this site and hope someone can answer my question. How or where do I recycle or dispose of an expired car seat? Is their a recycling program for car seats in Northern California.

Welcome. :) Good idea to explore recycling potential. This article posted in the Articles section of car-seat.org has a listing of some carseat recyclers: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=156221&highlight=recycling Hmmm, I see Burbank on the list, but that isn't in Northern California, is it? You could also try contacting your local Safe Kids coalition to see if there is interest in acquiring your carseat for training purposes or if the coalition knows of a more local to you recycling facility. Here's the Safe Kids locator link for looking up certified child passenger safety technicians/instructors (CPST/CPST-I) in your area to inquire about interest in your carseat for training purposes: https://ssl13.cyzap.net/dzapps/dbza...tegory1=TAB9_CERTSEARCH&Webid=SAFEKIDSCERTSQL Another option if you anticipate a future need for a new carseat or other baby items would be to hang onto the expired carseat until the next Babies 'R Us (BRU) trade-in deal is offered (a couple of times a year I believe based on recent years) where BRU stores accept used carseats in exchange for a discount on a new item.

I suggest calling recycling centers around you to see if they would take the car seat. If you find one that will, please report back so it can be added to the list. I called the recycling center in my dinky little town and they take car seats. (They just ship them to a larger facility.)
