MyRide 65 on a plane?

Thanks to all your help, we got and are happy with a Graco My Ride 65:thumbsup:! I'm planning for my daughter (just turning a year), and I to fly from Guam where we're stationed to Seattle for a month. I'll be getting her her own seat on the plane, even if I have to pay full price, its 2x 8hr flights:eek:, we'd be miserable with her in my lap! So my question is, how well will the My ride fit in an airline seat? It'll be a big plane if that makes any difference? It has to forward face right? Any other suggestions or words of advice? I did get a cart things that I can strap the seat to so I dont have to lug it, no worries there!! Thanks in advance!

It'll fit with the armrest up, and provided you're on an American carrier, you can rear face it just fine.

We'll be taking a free military flight from Guam to Hawaii and I'm sure they'll let me install the seat however I want/can, they may not even be 'real' seats, but jump seats, so I may have to improvise! Then we'll likely fly via Alaska Airlines from Hawaii to Seattle, so I guess I could check with them about how she can face, rear facing would be better, safety wise, easier for me to see and interact with her,and gives me more space in MY seat (I'm no skinny minnie!!).

Rear facing on Alaskan is fine. They're an American carrier and must abide by the FAA regulations. http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAdvisoryCircular.nsf/0/60d70126cf679d5a8625723b007841e7/$FILE/AC%20120-87A.pdf

As for the military plane, do the seats face forward? If so, you're fine. If not, according to Graco you can't install the seat there. So that'd be your call.

Thank you for the info! As far as the military plane, I won't know the seating situation until I get ON the plane, as they are all different! Jump seats are often situated sideways on either side of the plane (they're the mesh/webbing type seats). I'm sure it would void the warranty if something happened, installing it like that, but she still seems safer strapped into her seat then held in my lap, you know?
